The first edition of a newsletter produced by a brand new Subject Association – Native Education Association of Ontario (NEAO); great for teachers of Native Studies, Native Languages. Read the submissions for the 2009 national bilingual writing and drawing contest designed to improve literacy skills and create global citizens. Contestants were in Grade 4-6 at time of entry. Using Kenneth Oppel's opening, students completed a 300 word story incorporating the contest's theme of tolerance and acceptance.

An international literacy and communications activity for primary and junior students; motivated by the book, 'Flat Stanley' by Jeff Brown; students make paper Flat Stanleys and begin a journal with him for a few days. Then Flat Stanley and the journal are sent to another school where students there treat Flat Stanley as a guest and complete the journal.
